Links

Reciprocal Linking is one of the cheapest and most efficient ways of driving traffic to your website.

The more links there are out there that point to your website the more important Google will think you are.

Of course, there is also the possibility that people may actually click on them and land on your site as well.

How it works

The more (good quality) websites that link to your website - the better. Quite simply, you should try to get websites that are associated with your business to link to your website from theirs.  In return, you can link back to them. Hence ..reciprocal.

Linking is the only type of advertising available on the Internet that is 100% free.

Linking Hints

Exchange links only with sites that are related to your site/industry in some way. For example, don't link to web sites about athletic clothing if you're selling hardware. Sites that you're exchanging links with need to be contextually relevant. When they are, you earn extra points in the eyes of Google and other major search engines.

Make sure that your anchor text, the text that comprises your link, contains your keywords. This is one of the most important aspects of linking. For example, links on other sites to yours should display text like bed and breakfast new zealand' instead of "www.awatealodge.com". Doing so will signal the search engines with the specific keywords that you're optimizing for. This enhances your search results when someone searches on your keywords or keyword phrase.

Check your partner's websites on a regular basis to ensure that they are still linking back to you. Sometimes the person you talked to at a company is not the person who edit's the site. Check them on a regular basis.
